According to Hon. Davide in his statement The Philippines gives top priority to achieving the MDGs and even create The policies and strategies in its Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP) 2004-2010 designed to pursue and achieve the MDGs.
He mentioned in his statement the following agendas and plans of the Philippine Gov't to achieve the MDG's
He mentioned in his statement the following agendas and plans of the Philippine Gov't to achieve the MDG's
1.The Department of Budget and Management issued policy guidelines and proceduresin the preparation of national and local budget proposalsemphasizing the importance of funding programs, projects and activities in support of the MDGs.
2.A Special Committee on the MDGs was created in the House of Representatives of the Congress of the Philippines , and the latter has formulated an MDG Legislative Agenda prioritizing legislative measures attuned and responsive to early realization of the MDGs.
3.The Department of Interior and Local Governments issued a “Guide to Local Government Units in the Localization of the MDGs” to guide the local government units in interpreting and incorporating the MDGs in their local development planning and budgeting
With the timeframe of 6 years and 225 days... the question is..Is it feasible for the Philippines to achieve this goal? as they say It is easy to set targets but achieving them is the hard part.much more in our country. I dont want to be sound so negative but I dont believe that we can even solve the poverty in our county on a 6 year term much more eradicating it.
With the recent rice shortage and the Gap between haves and have-nots gets wider,a rotten government system, salaries are stagnant and the middle class is shouldering a larger tax burden. housing, tuition, fees, gas and food have soared. This target is next to impossible but the only thing we can do as a citizen of this country is to give our share by working hard and sharing our skills It takes two to tango..Accountability is the word..
Human Development is the key to achieve this goals. Sometimes there are many solutions to one problem, but whether the solutions will work...Its the question.
